Bringing Web 2.0 to your school...

Drag and drop!

Schoolweb is centered around a personalized
AJAX homepage (designed with the latest web
technology) filled with user-created and computer-
generated "widgets". Users select the "widgets" that
interest them and position them anywhere on their
personal page by dragging and dropping them.

Widget Philosophy Widgets are miniature webpages containing either user or computer-generated content Computer generated widgets include calendar, upcoming events, grades, homework, and notepad. User generated widgets can based on the sports, html (generic freeform content), announcements, or performance "template" – each of which has a unique editing interface for the user. Widgets can be created (with administrative approval) for clubs, classes, committees, grades, sports teams, and more.
Widgets in Practice Widgets have a number of generic features in addition to their "template" specific features
  • - Files – Upload files as supplementary content
  • - Events – Attach events to your widgets
  • - Surveys – Poll your users for their feedback
  • - Statistics – See popularity and demographics
  • - Permissions – Specify who can view or edit your widget
Feature List
Customized Calendar Each user has a calendar customized to their interests (as defined by the widgets they have on their homepage), classes, sports teams and grade level. Users can even subscribe to their personalized calendar in external applications like Outlook, Google Calendar or iCal and get reminders of events by email, IM or SMS.
Sports Information Using each team’s personal sports widget, coaches and captains can post practices, announcements, upcoming games and recent scores. Practices and games are added automatically to team members' calendars, and team members are informed of canceled practices. In addition a school-wide sports widget shows all upcoming games and recent scores.
Files and Forms Widget owners can attach files and folders to widgets to provide supplementary material--including handouts, presentations, notes, homework assignments, photos, videos, music, and more.  In addition, general school forms and files can be uploaded to the forms tab, which provides easy access to files for all users.
Dynamic Mailing Lists With Schoolweb teachers and administrators can build dynamic mailing lists by chaining together queries of users in a powerful and easy to use interface. Need to mail the parents of 10th and 11th grade french students? All 7th period art students? No problem—it’s just a few clicks away. And once you save the list it automatically updates, so there’s no need for manual list maintenance.

Class Homework Teachers can submit homework for each of their classes, which will automatically show up in their students’ homework widget. A week’s homework can even be accessed as a PDF, to facilitate easy printing of homework schedules. Parents can see all the homework for their children using a special tabbed interface.
Access to Grades Grades are pulled down from your Student Information System automatically, and displayed for students and parents. Currently only Powerschool® is supported, but we will work with you to support your SIS. With a direct link to the full SIS page, your users’ Schoolweb logins will be the only ones they need.
Surveys A comprehensive built-in survey system allows widget editors to poll their users with multiple choice, short answer, free response, and rating questions. After you’ve collected the data, analyze and print your results with the powerful results viewer or just download the results into Excel (or your preferred spreadsheet app) and perform your own analysis.
Access Anywhere Schoolweb is available from virtually every “connected” device—including computers, laptops, PDAs, and even cell phones.  For users with internet on their phone, Schoolweb provides mobile access to nearly all its widgets.  In addition, quick access to homework, grades, and events is just a text message (SMS) away.
